Description
Offered is a vintage Teac V-200 stereo cassette deck generally in very good or better cosmetic and in proper working condition. As received it was operational but, after 30+ years, things drift. A few of the belts were clearly stretched out and so two new belts were installed (capstan & FF/Rew belts). The record/playback head and pinch roller exhibited typical signs of wear. Currently both the playback and record functions work well but there is likely a bit of wear to the head and so drop off at the highest frequencies (especially above 8kHz) is observed. This behavior is typical in many cassette decks from this era. Overall this deck sounds quite nice with very little tape hiss. This model was an entry level deck and so there are a limited number of features. There are no inputs for microphones and no headphone jack. The "dual" LED meter display actually averages the left and right channels and so the top and bottom displays illuminate identically. There is no left/right balance adjustment while recording. The autostop function is limited to just the play or record modes. If using fast forward or rewind the deck must be manually stopped.
Cosmetically the deck is generally in very good shape with just a few minor defects at top along the black plastic fascia. The black metal cover had a few chips and scratches here and there and so it has been given a fresh coat of black satin paint (which did wonders). The front face is in excellent shape.
