The first US National Park, Yellowstone, was proclaimed 1872 and is administered by the National Park Service. The park offers the visitor a wide range of natural wonders: hot steam geysers, huge waterfalls, wide forests, and many wild animals, fish and birds. However, the bison herds are a special treat. Upper Yellowstone Falls (109 feet), and Lower Yellowstone Falls (308 feet), are on the Yellowstone River that flows from Yellowstone Lake to the Missouri River.
